The department focuses mainly on three thematic areas:

Child Protection
High rate of out of school children, Declined educational standard of government public schools in the state, Poor health care system for children, Child Labour, Child Abuse and Molestation, Orphans and vulnerable children, Ignorance of provisions of child right law, Harmful traditional practices
Increase in Birth rate, Street Children, Unhealthy religious / traditional believe, Child Trafficking, Policy issues, Unwillingness of people to speak out and prosecute child abuse perpetrators and Attitude of key criminal justice stakeholders in prosecuting perpetrators of child abuse, Child headed households

Public Health Issues & awareness
Increase in malaria mortality rate, Emerging pandemic & endemic diseases, Incessant outbreak of diseases (Cholera, Tuberculosis e.t.c.), Poor hygiene, Open defecation, Transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to child, Stigmatization of HIV/AIDs victims and Persons with Disability (PWD), Nonchalant attitude of people to health challenges, Myths associated with Covid-19, Female Genital Mutilations /cutting

Women and Youth Empowerment
Difficulty in accessing credit facilities, High interest rate on microcredit loans, High default rate due to the effect of Covid19 Pandemic, Illiteracy, Inflation, Recovery challenges, Policy issues (Exchange rates, Border closure), Decline in the living condition of women
