Democracy & Good Governance

In the past 25 years, the organization through her Democracy and Good Governance Program has been operating in the area of Democracy awareness, voters’ education, election monitoring and observation, political leadership and budget monitoring and tracking, advocates for political inclusion through the participation of women, youths and Persons with disabilities, political campaign finance monitoring and tracking. The program has built citizens’ skills to engage the government, creation of functional Good Governance committees across the 20LGAs of Osun State.

As one of the objectives of the DGG program is to promote citizens’ participation in community development and good governance, over the past 25 years, the organization has executed the following activities towards the actualization of the set objective:

Elections are important because they give the masses a voice and return power to the people. Election remains a major feature of a democratic setting, and democracy means “a government of the people, by the people and for the people.” The organization through the program has come up with many initiatives and programs in strengthening our electioneering process through the use of technology and capacity building programs

The organization over the past 25 years have acquired tremendous experience especially in the area of election and technology. The organization saw the need to strengthen the capacity of government agencies especially in the area of election towards having credible, transparent and inclusive election in Nigeria. In achieving, the organization organized different capacity building programs for government agencies across the country, below are some of the programs organized.

Promoting Youth, Women and Person with disabilities in Political Participation

Governance is inclusive when it effectively serves and engages all people; takes into account gender and other facets of personal identity; and when institutions, policies, processes, and services are accessible, accountable and responsive to all members of society. Democracy is dependent on the participation and representation of all citizens in democratic institutions and processes
