Ekiti guber poll: Vote buying dominates 11 LGs out 16 LGs

Not more than 11 local governments out of 16 local governments in the 2022 Ekiti Gubernatorial Election have been said to have fraught with vote-buying.

The Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre, (JDPMC) Osogbo made this known while speaking with the newsmen

at her election situation room in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti state.

The group noted that it gathered the fact from the field report through its trained and accredited 80 observers deployed across 16 local Governments of the state.

Reacting to the situation, the General Coordinator of the JDPMC, Osogbo, Rev.Fr.Peter Akinkunmi said ” It is saddened that
this kind of primitive practice is still operational in this age despite the large scale of sensitization and voters’ education by the stakeholders concerned,

It is a statement of fact that there is poverty in the land we are not oblivion of this but then, this display of its second fiddle cannot solve the situation either”.

He stated further that the organization will not deter in trying her best to make sure that people take responsibility for themselves and true change they seek would have to begin with them.
