A leading Faith-based Charity, Non-Governmental, Non-Political, and Not-for-profit Organization, established for the promotion of social development activities aimed at improving the standard of living of people and their quality of life, alleviating the suffering of the oppressed, the marginalized and the less privileged by influencing public policies and empowering people to be self-reliant in the Osun State also known as the Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre of Osogbo (JDPMC) has vehemently warned parents across the state to learn to wake up to their various parental responsibilities and duties to their children so that they become good ambassadors of the country.
The Clarion Call was made during two days Child’s Right rally organized by the Department of Integrated Human Development/Child Care of the Organization which cut across Irepodun and Orolu Local Governments with the aim of bringing the understanding and knowledge of Child’s Right to the every community.
According to the Programme Supervisor, Mrs. Juliet Akande “We are here to sensitize the parents on the need to uphold and protect the Rights of their Wards and why they should take their education as a priority that must not suffer a shortchange, not to subject them to hard labour, corporal punishment on a minor offence of worth-verbal corrections. Most of all, giving them adequate attentions they deserve as stipulated by law. The level of school attrition here is alarming and for this reason; we are appealing to the parents and guardians to live up to their duties so as to raise proper children as future Leaders, for these kids are the tomorrow country’s glory,” She maintained.
Also speaking, the programme Officer, Mrs. Damilola Arowolo stated that the rally was part of action plans of the Integrated Human Development/Child Care under the Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre to eliminate illiteracy and child’s right violations among the children thereby promoting equal opportunities for them in accordance with law of the land.
