“Use the Training received to educate your Peers in the Communities on HIV/AIDS” – JDMPC urges 175 peer educators.

In a bid to reduce the incidence rate of HIV and death attributable to AIDS in Osun state communities. JDPMC with support from Vastenactie , Netherlands trained 175 out of  School youths as peer educators. Understanding the fact that the youths are major Actors in the issues concerning the spread of HIV.  It is pertinent that the trained youths must be the positive change agents and role models for their peers.

According to the Programme Supervisor, Mrs. Juliet Akande “in spite of the fact the prevalence of HIV is reduced now, strategic activities must continue to ensure that the success achieved so far are sustained.”

The out of school youths were selected across five Local Government Areas̀ which were Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South, Ife Central and Atakunmosa West.

The Trainees enjoyed the technical support of the Local Government HIV focal Officers as well as some of the Officials of Osun State Youth Empowerment Scheme.

The Highpoint of the Training was the availability of Voluntary Counselling and Testing for the trainees.
