The General Coordinator of the Justice, Development and Peace Makers Centre, (JDPMC), Osogbo, Rev.Fr.Peter Akinkunmi made this known in his World Hepatitis Day’s Message.

Fr.Akinkunmi noted that getting tested in order to know one’s health status and vaccinated respectively were no longer optional considering the death rates recorded so far due to Covid19 pandemic and other underlying diseases. He added that it was important Nigerians learned how to prevent the worst from happening rather than fighting it.

He therefore enjoined Nigerian to cultivate the habit of regular health maintenance and medical check-up which he described as a key to a sound living and long life.

Democracy Day: “Rise up to your Gender role to fix lacuna in Governance”-Lagbenro urges Women

A good governance and gender role expert, Tolu Lagbenro has characterized gender role and equality in Nigeria’s political and socio-economic context as a key to service delivery in good governance which every Nigerian woman must rise up to in order for the nation to reach her enviable height as a giant of Africa.

Lagbenro stated this while featuring on a special edition of live programme in commemoration of the Democracy Day organized by the Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Centre (JDPMC), Osogbo on a frequency modulation of 91.7 Rave fm with a topic ” The need for Women’s participation in politics and Community Development”

The good governance and gender role expert noted that the era of gender imbalance and inequality had overstayed its welcome in Africa where a woman could only be seen but not to be heard. Even, in some situations her participation or contribution towards the development of her immediate community, state and nation could be regarded as a taboo.

She stressed that time has changed as women’s quotas now played pivotal roles in face lifting the political and socio-economic values of the country in which an attempt to downplay its worth might undermine the progress and the gains of Nigeria.

while calling on Nigerian Women to renew their interest and unity of purpose to fill in the vacuum in governance so as to raise the bar of performance. she also appealed to political actors, non-actors, opinion formulators, Captains of Industry, Technocrats in all fields to create a level playing ground with enforcement frameworks for all genders to thrive in Democracy.
